The Green Frog Reopens Under New Owner

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - On Friday, the Green Frog Inn reopened under a new owner who has experience managing bars throughout Allen County.

The Green Frog has been a Fort Wayne staple since 1933. Former Mayor Tom Henry’s wife, Cindy Henry, owned the bar for many years.

Now, it’s owned by Eric Kissinger, who wants to honor her memory.

“I’ve been a Fort Wayne resident for a good part of 30 years, and this was the one on the radar that I really wanted,” said Kissinger. “I had a couple failed attempts to buy it in the past and I saw it come up for sale, and I wanted to be first in line.”

Kissinger says there won’t be any radical changes to the building, only a couple of upgrades. He says he wants to maintain the history of the building.

“New taps system, new kitchen equipment, new furniture, some new branding, new A/V systems, and a menu that we think will play with the community very well.”

The General Manager of the Green Frog, Zach Felger, got his first bartending job working for Kissinger at one of his previous bars. He says he received a call one day while at his other job from Kissinger.

“He hit me back up when I was there and he was like, hey I have one person in mind to run this store and it was you. Can you do it for me? I said hell yeah!”

The group said they are eager to get out and serve members of the community just like the Green Frog never left.
